IS FRIENDSTER CLOSING DOWN?

Friendster, the first social network site is shutting down its social networking services on May 31, 2011 after 9 years of being online.

On its e-mail sent to users last week, Friendster advises them to export their profiles, photos, and blogs by May 31 or these will all be history. All these will be erased to give way to the new Friendsterwhich will be launched in a couple of weeks.

Nikolai Galicia, Friendster and MOL country manager for thePhilippines said they can no longer compete with now the world’s most visited site – Facebook. “You can’t compete with Facebook. They did a good job. It’s a Facebook world,”

But Galicia also disputed rumors that Friendster is shutting down. “Friendster will continue. Mag-iiba lang ang focus niya. After MOL bought Friendster, we are moving forward. The new Friendster will complement Facebook.”

Friendster will retain its name but will discontinue its social network services. It will be re-launched as a social entertainment site where users will be able to play games and listen to music.

“Fifty percent of FB users don’t like games. We will service the other 50 percent,” said Galicia.

Friendster was bought by Money Online (MOL), a Malaysian company that also owns the Berjaya group of companies, from its American owners.

The Philippines has the most number of Friendster users worldwide with an estimated 20 million users.

HARRY POTTER AND THE DEATHLY HALLOWS Part II (SCENES WE CAN'T WAIT TO SEE)

“Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows - Part 1” certainly had its share of great scenes (Malfoy Manor! George and Fred! The Ministry of Magic!), but with the film ending on such a cliffhanger, we can’t help looking forward to all the even better scenes that we get to finally see in “Part 2.” There are Horcruxes to find, motivations to reveal and bad guys to kill, and we cannot handle the wait for the next eight months. Seriously, can it be July 15, 2011, already?

That being said, we decided to honor the most magical number known to wizards and count down seven scenes we cannot wait to see in “Part 2.” If you haven’t read “Deathly Hallows” and/or spoiled the story for yourself already, please don’t read any further because many spoilers lie ahead, and we recommend saving all the major plot points being unveiled on the big screen instead of in our list. You have been warned! Everyone who has read the book and does want to talk “Part 2,” please join in the discussion in the comments section at the bottom of this post!

Escape from Gringotts
The first trailer for “Deathly Hallows” teased this scene so bad and we’re kind of annoyed that we’ll have to have waited a year to finally see the big escape from Gringotts come to fruition. A blind dragon, multiplying Hufflepuff’s Cups and Hermione Polyjuiced as Bellatrix Lestrange (which was totally set up with that strand of hair in “Part 1,” by the way)? Yes please! Hopefully we won’t have to wait too long for this intense scene to unfold, because we have a feeling “Part 2” is going to be as much an action-packed roller coaster as “Part 1” was an introverted character study.

Dumbledore’s History
Was anyone else a little peeved that they decided to leave Dumbledore’s back story out of “Part 1” entirely and save it for “Part 2”? (And, of course, they never did give him his funeral.) Regardless, we know we’re going to be hearing a lot about the life and lies of Albus Dumbledore from his brother Aberforth in “Part 2,” and we can’t wait to see the look on Harry’s face when he discovers just how much he didn’t know about the powerful wizard. It will also give us a chance to see more of Jamie Campbell Bower more as Grindlewald.

Snape’s Memories
Be prepared to cry like a baby. This was one of the biggest “oh no she didn’t!” moments in the entire “Harry Potter” series, and I for one cannot wait to see how Snape’s heartbreaking life story is told on the big screen. Is it just me, or is Alan Rickman going to make the words “Look at me” go down in history as one of the most epic lines of dialogue in all of the “Harry Potter” films? So exciting!

Harry Walking Into the Woods
I’m not a big crier at books, but by the time Harry’s walk into the woods came around in my first reading of “Deathly Hallows” the day after it came out, I was weeping like a baby at the emotional bombs Jo Rowling was dropping on us in this scene. Finally we’ll get to see all of our favorite deceased wizards come back one last time, but I have a feeling I am not going to be able to hold myself together when Harry turns to Sirius’s ghost and asks, “Does it hurt?”

King’s Cross Station
Finally, the triumphant return of Michael Gambon as Dumbledore! Harry finally will be able to hear Dumbledore’s motivations for everything since the boy wizard’s arrival at Hogwarts, and after two films filled with Harry questioning why Dumbledore did what he did, this scene can’t come soon enough. It will be interesting to see how the film handles the shriveled baby version of Voldemort, but considering they’ll have had more than a year to make that CGI look amazing, we’re hoping for the best.

“Not My Daughter, You Bitch!”
Blah blah, 30-minute final battle scene, blah blah, Harry’s final showdown with Voldemort. Yes, we get it, it’s going to be epic. Want to know what it won’t be as epic as? Molly Weasley turning to Bellatrix Lestrange after she shoots a killing curse at Ginny and screaming, “Not my daughter, you bitch!” Of course, we aren’t going to be able to hold ourselves together when Fred dies (tearing up right now just thinking about it), but at least this scene will help ease the heartbreak. And don’t even get me started on Lupin and Tonks.

The Epilogue
But, really, I think the scene that everyone is most excited to see is the 19-years-later epilogue that will close out of the film. It’s undergoing reshoots right now, but that must be because director David Yates knows that he needs to make this scene completely believable and have it provide emotional closure for fans who have been following this franchise for a decade. There were some photos that were leaked of the scene that looked really great, but we can’t wait to see all of our favorite “Potter” characters finally getting their happily ever after all the heartbreak they were forced to endure. And Harry’s scar never pained him again.

What are the scenes from “Part 2” that you are most looking forward to seeing?

Happy Easter Everyone =) !!!

Praise God for the hope of Easter brings to us!

It reminds us that just as Easter completes the work of the cross, God will complete the good work He has for our lives.

And just as the Station of the Cross reminds us that what Jesus did; He did it for all of us, according to the will of the Father Almighty—-to save our souls and give us an eternal life in reunion with Him.

The Torture of Jesus

“But he was pierced for our rebellions.

Crushed for our sins.

He was beaten so we could be whole.

He was whipped so we could be healed.”

—-Isaiah 53:5

Basically, JESUS WAS WHIPPED SO WE COULD BE HEALED.
